We are thrilled to share that Jessica, co-owner of Son of a Sailor, has been selected as one of the newest participants in Nest’s Makers Future Fund.
The Makers Future Fund is designed to connect maker-entrepreneurs like us with the coaching, funding, and peer support needed to achieve financial goals and grow craft-based businesses. The program brings together small business owners from across the country who are building thoughtfully, sustainably, and with a deep commitment to their craft.
Jessica is incredibly excited to be part of this program and to build community with fellow makers while learning from industry experts to expand our business acumen. As a program participant, we receive access to a grant to further our business goals and objectives, along with workshops, mentorship, and a supportive community of small business owners who truly understand the challenges of growing a creative business and can help surface meaningful resources.
This opportunity feels especially meaningful as we head into a big year for Son of a Sailor. In 2026, we celebrate our 15th anniversary, and we are excited to kick off this milestone year learning and growing with Nest.
Last year, Jessica was proud to represent Son of a Sailor in several small business cohort programs, including the SAGE program and Frost Bank’s Small Business Development Series in 2025. These experiences reinforced something we have learned again and again over the past 15 years. You never stop learning. Each stage of business brings new questions, new challenges, and new opportunities to grow.
The Makers Future Fund continues that momentum with a ten-week learning session followed by an eight-week mentoring program. Jessica is especially excited to gain higher-level expertise and knowledge from Nest, the mentors involved, and the peers in the cohort. Learning alongside other makers who are navigating similar paths feels both grounding and inspiring.
We are deeply grateful to Nest for this amazing opportunity and cannot wait to see how this experience shapes the next chapter of Son of a Sailor as we head into our 15th year.
Thank you to Nest for believing in makers like us and for investing in the future of small, creative businesses.
