Part-time position
Production & Retail Associate
San Antonio, TX
At Son of a Sailor, we’ve been handcrafting jewelry, leather goods, and barware since 2011. Our storefront is not just a shop—it’s a community space where creativity, craftsmanship, and connection come together. We’re looking for a new teammate who thrives on details, enjoys working with their hands, and lights up when interacting with customers.
What you’ll do here:
- Jewelry production & permanent jewelry services — precision work, assembly, and an eye for detail are key.
- Retail & customer experience — warmly engaging with visitors, educating them about our work, and making their time in the shop memorable.
- Content creation — assist with capturing and sharing photos and videos for social media; contribute ideas that show off the behind-the-scenes of our studio and storefront.
- Other duties as required — we’re a small team, and everyone jumps in where needed.
Schedule requirements:
- This role requires regular availability on one or both weekend days (Saturday and/or Sunday), as those are our busiest times with customers.
- While occasional flexibility in scheduling is possible and paid time off is part of our benefits, applicants should expect that weekend shifts are a consistent part of this position.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Are detail-oriented with great dexterity and patience.
- Have previous experience in jewelry making, permanent jewelry, or another craft requiring precise handwork.
- Have worked in retail, hospitality, or another customer-facing role where warmth and communication matter.
- Are comfortable with Instagram and TikTok—whether posting, recording, or brainstorming ideas.
- Enjoy problem solving, reasoning things through, and taking initiative.
- Value a supportive, collaborative work environment.
What we offer:
- $14–$17 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Paid time off
- Employee discounts
- A culture rooted in respect, creativity, and balance (we hire like Trader Joe’s and Room & Board: people-first, culture-first)
How to apply:
Please send the following to jessica@sonofasailor.co:
- Your resume
- A short cover letter or note about why this role feels like the right fit for you
- An example of your creative work (this could be a social media post, a project you’ve made, or anything that helps us get a sense of your perspective and style)
Applications missing one of the above may not be considered.
