The curved bright pops in this piece are symbolic of the flumes - man-made structures designed to transport water. Here, in the Feather River Canyon of Northern California, water is the great Alchemist. Life springs from it, as does resilience to wildfire. Wildfire presents one of the greatest natural threats to those living in these realms, as evidenced by the Camp Fire that burned Paradise, CA to the ground in late 2018. Paradise was my canyon-laden home, now lost.
