The Wangari is a part of our Femina collection, which celebrates simple, modern forms and natural materials. Based on striking neutrals, intentional strokes of color punctuate the collection. Each piece is named after an influential and inspiring woman, who has made a tremendous impact on the world.
The Wangari earrings are named for Wangari Maathai, founder of the Green Belt Movement and 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. She is the first woman East and Central Africa to earn a doctorate degree and became chair of the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and associate professor at the University of Nairobi. She is internationally acknowledged for her struggle for democracy, human rights, and environmental conservation.
