The Sarmiza necklace is named for the first European woman to obtain a PhD in Law from the University of Paris and first Romanian lawyer, Sarmiza Bilcescu. She paved the way for women in her field and others including Christina Cutzarida, the first in her country to obtain a doctorate in Medicine.
